Welcome to Beauty in the Berkshires!
We are your hosts, John and Regina. We bought this house to eventually move into from the Midwest but kids and jobs are keeping us planted for the moment. The house has also become our landing spot to visit our daughter in Boston and we are so pleased to share it with you. As a more-than-a-century-old home it definitely has its quirks and will probably forever be a work in progress but we hope you find it as welcoming and comfortable as we do.

Location
The house is at 48 Cady St, North Adams, MA 01247 just up the street from MASS MoCA. We recommend you approach on River St., turn north onto Veazie St, west (left) on School St which will curve north and become Cady St. (See Map further down)

Parking - General
You are welcome to park on the street directly in front of the house, aiming uphill. Please avoid parking in front of someone else’s house. You may also pull a vehicle all the way in under the rear carport but - PLEASE NOTE: DON’T PARK ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE DRIVEWAY. The driveway itself, leading to the carport, is shared property and cannot be blocked. If for any reason your access to or from the carport is blocked, please reach out to us.
Parking - Winter (Nov 1 - Apr 15)
OVERNIGHT WINTER ON-STREET PARKING BAN : The city of North Adams prohibits any overnight (1am - 6am) parking on the street between Nov 1 and Apr 15 - We know, that’s crazy but it’s real!
Overnight: We only have 1 spot for off-street parking so park your car under the carport near the back of the house but

During the day: You are welcome to park on the street directly in front of the house. Please avoid parking in front of someone else’s house if possible.
City Information regarding the parking ban: During this time, vehicles are not allowed to park on streets or highways for more than one hour between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. so that the city can more affectively remove snow. The ban also prohibits parking on sidewalks.
The fine for violation of this ordinance is $30.00.
Access
We have set a door code specifically for you and it will become active at your check in time. The code will work on the front door as well as the carport door. Just key that code in and wait for the deadbolt to retract. Whenever you leave, please pull the door closed, then simply press the Lock Icon on the keypad (Padlock image on front door, “Schlage” button on carport door) and make sure the deadbolt extends successfully. Regarding the carport door - please don’t use the door knob twist-lock, just use the deadbolt, otherwise that will make the code useless as the knob itself will be locked.
Doors
Please don’t leave any of the outside doors open - especially in warmer, buggy weather (or frigid cold winter weather). The doors will not auto-lock so it's ok to just pull them closed. The front door can be left open as long as the storm door is closed fully. This will help reduce the number of flying fiends.

Quiet hours : 10 pm - 8 am
Also, please don’t let anyone climb on the hilly areas around the house - they’re tricky spots to get things to grow and to prevent erosion.

The TV is equipped with its own built-in Smart interface that can run most popular streaming services. Just choose the service and log in with your credentials. If you do log in, try to remember to log out before check out before you check out just so your account isn’t accidentally used by the next guest and you end up having show suggestions appear that are way out of your viewing habits. 😃
Check Out Instructions
Check out time is 11:00 am to allow us to prepare for our next guests.
o Please leave all used beds unmade.
o Leave all used towels and washcloths on the floor of the bathroom and/or hanging from the wall hooks.
o Load any dirty dishes into the dishwasher, pop in a detergent pod, and run it.
o Take trash and recycling to the outside bins.
o Close and Lock any windows you may have opened.
o Make sure all exit door deadbolts (not the door knob twist-locks) are locked.

In the event that something is broken, lost, or malfunctions, please let us know immediately so that we can replace it before the next guest arrives. We completely understand that accidents happen, and will work with you to assess any damages if necessary.
